Adjacent to the NAIC 2016 Summer National Meeting, the NAIC invited the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) to meet with interested parties for a Q&A on key issues under consideration by the association. Peter Windsor, Senior Policy Advisor for the IAIS and a member of the Secretariat addressed a standing-room only audience for a substantive discussion on international insurance issues. He provided an update on various IAIS work streams including the International Capital Standards (ICS), ComFrame and the updated assessment methodology for global systemically important insurers (G-SIIs).
Following his remarks, Windsor responded to questions from the audience that included representatives from consumer groups, Internationally Active Insurance Groups (IAIGs), trade associations, and academics. The meeting was part of the IAIS outreach initiative encouraged by the NAIC to brief stakeholders on IAIS activities. Takashi Hamano of the Japan Financial Services Agency also provided a brief update on an IAIS task force considering ways to further improve stakeholder engagement.
