NAIC CYBERSECURITY CHAIR TAPPED FOR WHITE HOUSE
CYBERSECURITY AND CONSUMER PROTECTION SUMMIT
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Feb. 13, 2015) - The National Association of Insurance Commissioners
(EX) Task Force Chair and North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm
today attended the White House Cybersecurity and Consumer Protection Summit
at Stanford University. President Obama spoke at the Feb. 13 Summit focused
on collaboration and exploring partnerships to bolster cybersecurity.
"Obviously in the wake of the Anthem security
breach, the topic of cybersecurity is more important now than ever," said
Hamm. "It's imperative that the public and private sectors work together to
protect consumers against the growing cybersecurity threat."
The Summit brought together stakeholders from
the insurance industry, tech companies, law enforcement, consumer advocacy,
higher education and more. Apple CEO Tim Cook was a featured speaker and
panelists from various government agencies also took part including the
National Counterterrorism Center, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the
Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Secret Service.
